Hi,

To solve this issue you need to add a menu item for Forgot Username/Password. It can be a hidden menu item. Once you do that, the Forgot Password function works again.

Hey that does work, with SEF urls turned off the forgot password function works! You're a genius! Now I wonder if there is a way to keep SEF url's, it's horrible not to have them. Perhaps I can override the link on the submit button - i guess that is a question for a different forum?

On click of Forgot Password goes to this page (correctly with and without the plugin activated)

www.tenghoi.org/testing/index.php/organic-veg-orders/create-an-account?view=reset

On Submit: No email sent and goes to this page...

www.tenghoi.org/testing/index.php/organic-veg-orders/manage-account-details

On submit either with SEF URL:S turned off or the plugin turned off we go correctly to this page and the email is sent:

www.tenghoi.org/testing/index.php?option=com_users&view=reset

Hi,

I don't know how the plugin could be messing up the Forgot Password function. The only time that it does anything is if the view has registration in it. Otherwise it just returns without doing anything.

Could you try turning off SEF URLs and see what the Forget Password URL is on your site please. It should be something like: domain.com/index.php?option=com_users&...

We need to see if the view is set to registration, which it shouldn't be for Forgot Password.

I just did a little test, I published the Joomla Log In module onto the 'show cart' page and tried clicking the reset password link on that - it was exactly the same - didn't work while the redirect plugin was active then worked perfectly when it was disactivated. So it is totally overriding the joomla funcionality.
Hmmm...

Hi, thanks for that.

It did work when I disabled the plugin on the test site, I was assuming that that meant it worked as a Joomla function not a VM function, so disabling the plugin reverts you to the Joomla system, even if you click the 'forgot password' in the VM login (at top of cart).

How would I use the Joomla 'forgot password' function whilst keeping the plugin?

- thansk so much for posting on a Sunday!

Hi,

Are you sure that if you disable the plugin, the VM forgot password function still works? I have had this issue on a Joomla 1.5 site, but it had nothing to do with the plugin. Whether it was enabled or disabled, the VM fogot password would not work. What I ended up using was the Joomla forgot password function rather than the VM forgot password function. Forgot password Joomla version would work, but the Forgot password Virtuemart version would not work. I never did get any resolution to the problem.

Hi,

Although I realise this is not an issue for you to fix I wondered if anyone else is having the same problem and may have found a solution.

After implementing KC VM reg redirect (Which by the way has been brilliant and very popular with our test users) the 'forgot password' function no longer works, obviously it is a part of the joomla reg system and not VM... however it is very important.

If that doesn't work it somewhat renders this plugin redundant so i wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this?

I have a thread in the VM forum as well.

I'm running J 2.5.9 and VM 2.0.18a (also tested 2.0.20 on the test site)
