Lost Catchpa

Did you see this extensions: extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-a-security/captcha/4887. It says that it works for VM registration. I have no idea how it works, but it is something that you could try.

Also see this page on the VM site documentation: virtuemart.net/documentation/User_Manual/User_Registration_Fields.html. It says:
Captcha Field

Obviously not a good idea if you don't want to bug new Customers, but sometimes necessary to prevent Registration Spam. You can add a Captcha Check to the Registration Form if the SecurityImages Component is installed on your Site.

What you would have to do is to add Captcha to the Virtuemart registration form. Captcha doesn't come standard with Joomla, so you had to have added some extensions to add Captcha to the registration form. Can you use the captcha plugin on the VM registration form or find another captcha that works with VM?

The plugin doesn't 'loose' captcha, it redirects the user to the correct registration form which sounds like you haven't added captcha to it. The plugin has nothing to do with captcha.
